Customer Service Clerk –Stouffville
Duties & Responsibilities: part time, shifts
A Customer Service Clerk you must be customer service oriented and able to connect well with people. Providing incredible customer service by proactively approaching customers at the counter and on the sales floor; answering questions; helping locate products; suggestive selling; cutting, slicing, weighing and packaging items as customers request. The Customer Service Clerk is also responsible for scanning sale items, operating the Cash Register and Debit/Credit Machine, handling money, and bagging purchases.
Other Duties include;
• Maintain the overall appearance of the store front, ensuring display cases, scales, floors, and counters are clean
• Stocking freezers and shelves with products; refilling products to meet customer needs and rotating for freshness
• Assisting in other departments; weighing, pricing and wrapping products to be sold on the sales floor
• Answering and operating the phone system, taking messages/orders as required
Qualifications:
Candidates applying for this position must possess the following;
• Be clean and neat in appearance;
• Have excellent communication and listening skills; able to perform simple mathematical calculations; count money and make change accurately;
• Physically fit with the ability lift up to 40 lbs; perform repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching; able to spend the majority of time on his/her feet and stand/walk without a break for up to 4 hours; and able to work in cold temperatures;
• Possess organizational skills, prioritizing requests and activities while managing interruptions and attending to details to complete tasks within deadlines;
• Utilize resources to educate self and others about product uses and characteristics, being sure to share acquired product knowledge
• Seeking to learn about products in the store as well as cooking techniques to grow and develop professionally, being certain to share acquired knowledge to better assist customers;
• Capable to work as a team with continuous interaction between customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment;
• Capacity to properly handle, prepare, transport and store products; use equipment and keep accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines to ensuring food and human safety practices are strictly adhered to;
• Have manual dexterity to operate equipment and handle knives in a safe and proper manner.
The following skills will be considered as assets;
• Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
• Knowledge of, passion for and experience working with, meat
• Experience working in a butcher shop
• Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques
